May 24th - Memorial Day Weekend Update!

Memorial Day Weekend is here and Mother Nature has left us with a very playable but very soggy course with all the recent rain.  Everyone is in the same boat and we want everyone to have a good time.

 Pace of Play

Golf at Birch Hill should generally be played in +/- 4 hours on a regular basis.  A holiday weekend that's effectively the start of summer brings volume that we're eagerly anticipating but the complexity of controlling that pace of play.  It gets inherently tougher with all the rain which forces us to be cart path only until we get some wind and sunshine to dry things out.  Given the volume today, tomorrow, and even Monday we ask that players enjoy themselves but also do what you can to keep up with the group in front of you.  We'll have friendly rangers out throughout the weekend to help keep things moving. Please stay on the cart path as soft areas can cause drastic damage for us.

Take your time, we'll have several beverage carts on the course/range to take advantage of and a BBQ grill with beverage cart on the driving range starting around 11am today.

 On Course Water

New this year, there will be coolers setup on the front and back 9 that have fresh (actually some of the freshest in the US) bottled water.  It's complimentary so help yourself to a couple bottles, just help us keep the course clean and please carry out waste or use the designated receptacles.

 North Shore Roast Beef Saturday

We'll have our signature North Shore Beef sandwich in the tavern today.  We've been consistently selling out by early afternoon so get in early if you're looking to score one or try it for the first time!

It's been a frustrating year of rain, specifically on the weekends.  Our crew is working as hard as possible to keep up with bunkers, greens, fairways, drainage and everything else that comes with a tougher start.  The feedback from golfers yesterday was consistently positive and they played in some of the soggiest conditions.  We think you'll be pleasantly surprised with how good the course is actually playing and greens are rolling.  We're going to do our best to keep everyone moving and on time even with tougher conditions but please bear with us and enjoy yourself, we're playing golf!

Cheers!
